about

Four Dead Crows are a UK based alternative blues-rock band formed in Spring 2014. This debut EP released in
November 2015 marks the beginning of their musical journey, from the back of a long summer spent writing songs and
gigging. Money Beats Soul is a guitar driven melting pot of influences, particularly the style of blues rock
artists from the 60s which are played over an alternative rock rhythm section; The Doors meet Queens of the Stone
Age.

It is also a testimony to more recent garage / blues rock acts such as The White Stripes, The Black Keys and Rival
Sons. The intro of "Broken Bones" acts as a platform for the hard hitting guitar riff that follows, only for the
song to take an unexpected turn during the latter half. The song transforms into heavy blues riff with a Hendrix
inspired guitar solo smoothly played over the disorder below it. "Destitute Blues" eases into a soft, yet warming
melody, the chorus builds and the lyrical line "Have you got a spare dime for this poor boy in need?" tells the
tale of the rising wealth gap and state of the times. The song culminates by stripping back to allow a powerful
solo to take the limelight, again showcasing the ability of the bands guitar section. The EP closes with "No Great
Shakes" with an ensemble of low, dark instrumentation building into an explosive chorus with the vocal hook of the
title of the song. The bridge shows even earlier sounds of 20th century Delta Blues, culminating in a Bonham style
drum fill; another flavour of influences which shaped Money Beats Soul.
